Mayor Ross Forrest of Lake Cowichan

Message from our Mayor

On behalf of Town Council and staff, I would like to thank you for taking the time to check out our website. We are hoping that the additions and changes to this site on an ongoing basis will truly reflect the needs, concerns and new ideas of our town and home that is Lake Cowichan.

All you have to do is see the natural beauty of the lake, river and mountains where the town is situated and you will see why so many people are attracted by it. We are ideally located within an hour drive of Victoria and Nanaimo, Vancouver Island's two largest cities. From Duncan and North Cowichan we are 26 kilometers west by taking scenic highway 18.

The town lies at the east end of the Cowichan Lake at the mouth of the famous heritage Cowichan river. These two bodies of water are second to none worldwide. The river is well known as the fly fishing capital of Canada. The Lake is a great place for swimming, boating, fishing,or camping at some of the wonderful campsites that are on its shores.

We boast of being a friendly community that welcomes visitors with open arms. If you come and visit we can assure that you will come back, and better yet, stay.

We are very proud of our town and encourage you, your families and friends to come and see for yourselves what we have to offer.

We look forward to meeting you in Lake Cowichan, our Home.

Sincerely,

Ross Forrest
